Lara Ali

Flute and Saxophone Teacher

Lara Aisha Ali is a Nigerian-German classical flautist. She was raised in Northampton and is now based in London, studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She embraced the opportunities in the arts for young people in Northamptonshire, playing in award-winning youth ensembles in both classical and jazz music on flute and saxophone. Her studies at GSMD thus far have developed her love for performing chamber music (her ensembles including Woodwind Trio, Flute/Cello/Piano and Flute/Viola/Harp). She has also discovered an interest in composition as well as combining her passions for painting and visuals with her music. Lara enjoys the world of improvisation and contemporary music, partaking in jazz and electronic music gigs in venues such as Notting Hill Arts Club and Rich Mix Theatre, as well as Southbank Centre for London Jazz Festival 2023. This has led her to develop a holistic, creative musical identity and to network with exciting artists across London. She is driven by community and collaboration, which has fuelled her work to inspire young musicians in outreach workshops.
