Pelican Music is on a mission to give as many children access to music as we can.
ABOUT
What we Believe in
Our belief is that everyone should have access to the highest quality musical tuition.
Every child at Pelican Music is treated as if they have the potential to become a professional musician. Our ultimate aim is that all students who learn at Pelican Music will be able to make music a life-long companion.
Teachers
We are dedicated to employing the very best young teaching and playing talent around, which is why we have strong links with many of the music colleges in the country. At Pelican Music, we apply a strict criteria when hiring a new teacher, and observe each candidate teach before they join us. All of our teachers are highly trained and passionate about shaping the future's musicians.
Ensemble Playing
We believe that ensemble playing is a vital part of any young musician’s education. We have a wide range of ensembles available for our students and are always passionate about creating new and exciting opportunities.
We are particularly proud of our chamber music program where students are invited to be part of quartets, trios and duets from a young age.
Performance
At Pelican Music, we encourage performance right the way through tuition. We hold termly concerts, featuring both solo and ensemble performances.
Parent Participation
Here at Pelican Music, we think it is important for parents to be a part of the child's music education. This is why we have an open door policy, meaning parents can sit in on any of their child's lessons, at the discretion of our partner schools. We also provide students with a practice diary, which teachers will write in weekly to keep parents informed on their child’s progress.
Pelican Music was founded in 2014 by Agnes Hamilton, a young violinist and teacher in London. Her vision was to create a music school where children could study music seriously no matter where they come from, with London's brightest playing and teaching talents.
Ten years on, we now work with 26 primary schools across London, and have expanded our teaching provision to include after school clubs, after school lessons at students’ homes and in our centre in Shepherd’s Bush, and academic teaching.
In 2026 we launched our Stoke Newington site on Church street, and exciting space designed to bring the community together in the joy of passing music onto the next generation.
