Ellie McMurray

In July 2014 Ellie graduated from a Master in Advanced Performance at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona. Previous to this she studied her undergraduate at the Royal College of Music, London, where she studied saxophone with Kyle Horch and flute with Andy Panayi.

Most recently Ellie has performed with BCN 216 Ensemble and the L'Orquestra Simfònica deBarcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC). Ellie has performed in numerous venues in and around London including the Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Cadogan Hall, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, Abbey Road Studios and most recently Purcell Room. She performs regularly with indo-jazz group Nirikar and recently concluded a tour performing L’Elisir D’Amore with Opera Up Close.

Ellie is the alto player with the award winning Ferio Saxophone Quartet won the Royal Overseas League Ensembles competition in 2015, were awarded Martin Musical Scholarship Fund and will be Park Lane Group Artists for the 2016 season. Upcoming recitals with Ferio include Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, two tours of Scotland supported by the Tunnell Trust as well as numerous Music Festivals throughout the UK.

As a teacher she currently works both on a private one to one basis and in a school situation with Brent Music Service, Pelican Music and at Fulham Prep School. Previously to her degree at ESMUC and RCM, she studied for four years at the Purcell School of Music and has a very strong musical background and interest. Music as an education takes a strong role within her career and she strives to provide inspiration and enthusiasm to the younger generation.

As well as being an incredible teacher, Ellie is also a member of the renowned Ferio Saxophone Quartet.
